Architecture has played a role in the public representation of EU institutions. By looking at the history of EU Council family pictures - portraits taken in every summit with all the heads of state, this text traces the architectural evolution in parallel to the power narratives of the European project. The displacement from palaces and national monuments to multimedia broadcasting sets goes hand in hand with the growth and transformation of the EU from a community of countries to the largest supranational union in the world.

This text gives an overview of the boom of the discotheque as an architectural typology in Catalonia. Covering from the discotheques for children, with morning sessions, to the punk discotheques, where dead animal battles were staged, the article uncovers those spaces that were home to public expressions of social transformation during the period of political transition and the dawn of Barcelonian design later.
